A 51-year-old man was held by the Delhi Police for allegedly molesting a minor girl and her sister, officers said Wednesday.

The minor, who reported the matter at a community policing scheme ‘Nirbheek’, alleged in her complaint that the accused, also her neighbour, molested her and her sister on two to three occasions for over a month.

‘Nirbheek’ was launched in the Dwarka district to enable school-going children to report any harassment. Complaint drop boxes were placed in over 400 schools in Dwarka and police personnel are deployed to keep a track of them.

“One such note was dropped in a box installed at a government school in one of the villages and the matter was brought up. The child was contacted and counselled,” said DCP (Dwarka) Harshvardhan.

A case under the POCSO Act and under IPC sections pertaining to assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty was lodged and the accused was arrested after manual surveillance.
