The Delhi Development Authority has developed seven mini football fields and four playfields across the city and has plans of developing more in future,the agency announced on Friday.
These fields have been developed with the objective of providing sports facilities to all sections of the society and also promote and nurture talent among budding sportspersons, a statement issued by the DDA said. The project is the result of directions issued by Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna,the statement added.
The four playfields are located inside Netaji Subhash Sports Complex in Jasola,Dwarka Sports Complex,Rashtriya Swabhiman Khel Parisar in Pitampura and Vasant Kunj Sports Complex. The mini football fields are at Mandavali Fazalpur Mini Sports Complex,Vasundhara Sports Complex,Vasant Kunj B-Block Sports Complex,Vikaspuri,Pratap Nagar,Rohini and Lawrence Road.
To promote the fields,the DDA will also organise a five-a-side soccer championship from October 25-29.
