Cold wind ushers in 2011

The new year began on a cold note as the maximum and the minimum temperature witnessed a dip in the Capital.

The new year began on a cold note as the maximum and the minimum temperature witnessed a dip in the Capital. Cold northern winds kept blowing through the day, making outings difficult for citizens. From Friday’s 17.8 degrees Celsius, the maximum temperature went down to 16.7 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal.

And if the Met department is to be believed, the weather will remain like this for the next few days.

The minimum temperature was, however, one degree above normal at 8.4 degrees Celsius. The Met department has predicted that the weekend will remain cold. There will be mist in the morning and a few spells of sunshine during the afternoon. Nights will remain windy, keeping the chill factor intact.

For the next four days, the Met department has predicted that the weather would remain between 17 and 19 degrees Celsius during the day and 9 and 7 degrees Celsius during nights. The minimum temperature will see a further dip as the next week begins.

Delhiites will witness mist in the morning at least for one more week.

After last week’s rain, the coming week is predicted to remain dry. “The western disturbance has weakened and, hence, rains have stopped,” said a Met officer.
