Diversions for Beating the Retreat day
New Delhi: The Delhi Traffic Police has planned diversions for the Beating the Retreat at Vijay Chowk on Saturday. Vijay Chowk will remain closed to traffic movement between 4 pm and 11.30 pm on Friday,for rehearsals,and on Saturday.
New Delhi: A two-year-old boy died after falling into a ditch near his house in Outer Delhis Rohini Sector-20 at 10 am on Thursday. The victim was playing with a ball outside his house when the incident occurred. A senior police officer said,Ajits ball rolled into the ditch. He went to fetch it,tripped and fell in. He was rushed to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Man held for car theft
New Delhi: Wanted in a vehicle theft case,a 26-year-old man was finally arrested on Thursday. Ashok Chand,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) said the accused,Amit,was apprehended from Dwarka Sector-12 on Monday. The police said he was arrested by the Haryana Police in January 2009 for his alleged involvement in two murders. Amit was released on bail in June last year,but allegedly robbed a vehicle in Palam Vihar. The vehicle,which was later recovered,had a press sticker of a local news channel Khabar Aap Tak,where the accused claimed to be working as a reporter,the police said.
Fireman found dead
New Delhi: A Delhi Fire Services constable allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from his bedrooms ceiling fan at 10.30 pm on Monday. According to the police,no suicide note has been recovered. Soukendra (35) returned home at 8.30 pm and went early to bed. His wife,Devender Kaur,asked their son to get a magazine from Soukendras bedroom. It was then that he saw his fathers body hanging from the ceiling fan said a senior police officer.
