A 24-year-old mechanic died in North Delhi after he got stuck in a lift that he was repairing.

Mechanic dies while repairing lift

New Delhi: A 24-year-old mechanic died in North Delhi after he got stuck in a lift that he was repairing. The incident took place in K-Block,Sadar Bazaar,on Saturday. The victim has been identified as Chandan Singh,who had been called in to rectify the problem in the lift in building 47,police said. During repairing,the lift plummeted,causing to severe head injuries for Singh. Police said it took 30 minutes to rescue him. He was taken to Safdurjung Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Woman gets life term for killing husband

New Delhi: A woman has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a Delhi court for battering her husband to death and cutting off his genitals. The court described the act as “having been committed in utter frustration”. Additional Sessions Judge N K Kaushik convicted Guddi alias Lakshmi alias Manku on murder charges on circumstantial evidence and on the deposition of largely formal witnesses,comprising policemen and other officials,as the woman refused to defend herself.

MCD to empanel structural engineers

New Delhi: The MCD has invited applications for empanelling structural engineers to “enable the citizens to avail their services for the purpose of structural safety certificates and structural design,as are required in support of building plan application,occupancy or completion certificate and regularisation of building or structure.” The move comes weeks after the MCD opposed a government proposal asking property owners to furnish structural safety certificates for the sale of properties.
