Car theft: 3 held
Three people were arrested for allegedly stealing a car in the Hazrat Nizamuddin area of Southeast Delhi a week ago. Police sources said the incident was reported on January 15 by the car’s driver,Prakash. The car belongs to the owner of a call centre in Hauz Khas,the police added. “The driver told us he was near Jangpura when a few men intercepted him and forcibly entered his car. “They took him to Moolchand area,where they pushed him out and fled with the vehicle,” a senior police officer said. A case of theft under Section 379 was registered at the Hazrat Nizamuddin police station.

Fake currency seized
Two persons were arrested for allegedly possessing counterfeit currency with a face value of Rs 1.35 lakh from South Delhi on Friday. “We caught the two men with fake currency printed in a neighbouring country” Deputy Commissioner of Police,South,H G S Dhaliwal said. A senior official said they suspected the involvement of Pakistani agency ISI since the fake currency was of “very fine quality”. The arrested were identified as Mohammad Hamid (23),a resident of Badarpur,and Malkiyat Singh (33),a native of Uttaranchal.

Cops search for body
GHAZIABAD: Search for the body of Hemant Singh,allegedly murdered by his younger brother on Monday,continued on Friday. The Ghaziabad police,which had earlier blocked the flow of the Hindon river to locate the body,opened the channel on Friday. Asked if the search operation was over,Rahul Yadvendu,SP (City),said,“We have opened the channels because we searched wherever we wanted to and blocking the flow was not helping us. But we will find the body,” he said.

Man sets self on fire
Raju Louis,a 40-year-old property dealer living in Noida,immolated himself at the Sector 32 City Centre. He succumbed to injuries at a nearby hospital. The police said Louis owned a shop in Sector-12 and owed money to several clients,who claim they were cheated. The deceased called several people to the City Centre around 7.30 pm and set himself on fire,the police added.
