While India and Pakistan continue their difficult political discourse,Track II diplomacy still seems to be rolling with artistic collaborations, despite musicians Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and artist Khalil Chishti being denied visas to enter India recently. At his concert yesterday at the Siri Fort auditorium organised by Routes2Roots and ICCR,popular Pakistani singer Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan and his band Fuzon did their bit to further the cause of camaraderie between the two nations. Fundamentalists cant quash our creative spirits. I really wanted to be here to confirm the solidarity that has always been respected by artistes and appreciated by people of the two nations, said Khan who is the son of legendary classical singer Amanat
Ali Khan of the Patiala gharana an offshoot of Delhi gharana.
Khan, who is on his sixth visit to India for a four city concert, was well-supported by his band members on flute, keyboard, drums and guitars. He also crooned some folk numbers and Farida Khanums ghazals but ended the show with one of his most popular songs in India Mitwa from Karan Kohars Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna while the audience swayed to his resonant voice.
