Indo-American jewellery label,Isharya,can boast several Hollywood connections. Leading ladies like Eva Longoria Parker,Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore have been spotted wearing the brand’s trademark chandelier earrings and statement cuffs,and the designs also made it to the New York Fashion Week Spring 2010 runway. Earlier this week,Isharya opened its India chapter in Mumbai.

Founded by sisters-in-law Gauri and Radhika Tandon,the label will be available in other Indian cities soon. Says Gauri,“We combine Indian traditions with western aesthetics,which makes our pieces suitable for the contemporary Indian woman,whether she chooses to wear these with a sari or a dress.” With Radhika handling the business in California and Gauri working from Mumbai,Isharya was founded in December 2004.

The pieces showcased at the launch in Mumbai included the Druzy collection — using natural druzy agate and set in statement bib necklaces — the Enamel collection which uses Indian enamel crafted into unique shapes,the Coin collection,which is inspired by the coin jewellery of Rajasthan’s Banjara community,and the Floating Brocade collection inspired by Gota embroidery.
