Eco-inspired art works seem to have become de rigueur. Artist Ranjeeta Kant has produced a lush body of works inspired by her recent trip to Bali. Her solo exhibition “Dance of the Rainbow” presented by Gallerie Alternatives shows 30 works in acrylic and on paper. “The very existence of the earth is threatened. There has to be a more peaceful coexistence between man/woman and nature,to stop the degradation,” says Kant. Agrees Manu Dosaj, owner of Gallerie Alternatives: “The works hint at the alarming changes in our immediate environment.”

Kant,in her 50s,is the wife of Amitabh Kant who had conceptualised the Incredible India campaign.

Red and green dominate most canvases, with frangipani, birds of paradise and submerged lotuses making an appearance. She says,“I have used colour, form and texture to create a landscape which at times looks surreal… Rain plays hide and seek, and the lovely rainbow dances. When did we see a rainbow in the city last?”

The exhibition is on at Visual Arts Gallery till April 10. It continues at Gallerie Alternatives till April 26.
