New Delhi: Delhi Police Commissioner B K Gupta has started interacting with beat constables in the Capital,taking their feedback about difficulties and get first-hand knowledge about the ground situation. Gupta is reported to have told the beat constables during his meetings that they will be “rewarded” without delay for every big catch; an out-of-turn promotion might also be granted for continued performance excellence. A senior police officer who attended one meeting said. “He told the beat constables that if they get three ‘Asadharan Karya Puraskar’,they could be considered for an out-of-turn promotion,” the officer said.

New NDMC convention centre unveiling today

New Delhi: Union Home Minister P Chidambaram will inaugurate a new NDMC state-of-the-art convention centre on Monday. Adjacent to the NDMC’s headquarters on Parliament Street,the centre has two auditoriums,six conference halls and facilities like video-conferencing and central air-conditioning. It also has an automated underground parking lot for 900 cars,officials said. The civic body is planning to rent it to private groups and government agencies for various events.

4 held for murdering co-worker

New Delhi: Four persons were arrested in Southeast Delhi on Sunday for allegedly murdering their colleague,a youth who allegedly had relationships with the one of the accused,a woman,as well as her daughter. The accused have been identified as Sanjay’s roommate and co-worker Vinod Kumar (22),Ganesh Yadav (27),Kanhaiya Kumar Yadav (20) and Maya Haldar (36). The body of Sanjay was found in Sarai Kale Khan on Saturday night. Vinod was picked up for questioning after which he confessed to the crime. He told the police that he was upset that his roommate was involved with Maya,a worker at Comesum restaurant in Nizamuddin,whom he liked. Sanjay had also reportedly developed a relationship with Maya’s daughter.

Four get 8-yr RI for robbing bus passengers

New Delhi: A Delhi court has awarded rigorous imprisonment of eight years to four men for committing robbery in a Blueline bus and imposed a fine of Rs 4,000 on each of them. The convicts are Lala Ram,Satish,Prakash and Sunil. The four convicts were apprehended on December 23,2008,when a passenger raised alarm as they robbed him of Rs 33,500 in a Blueline bus.
