Five held for selling fake pearls
New Delhi:Five persons were arrested for cheating several people of crores of rupees by selling them fake pearls. They have been identified as Vidyut Kumar Banerjee (42),Abu Bakka Mandal (53),Sanjit Pal (36),Satender Kumar Singh (44) and Kiran Lohia (40). They were arrested near New Delhi railway station,after a complaint by a businessman,Abdul Wahid (42). They approached Wahid on August 25 and lured him to buy a cobra pearl (naag mani) for Rs 2 crore. They took Rs 1 lakh from him in advance and asked for the rest after completing the deal,on September 1. Wahid contacted a police team patrolling there and the five were arrested, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central),Devesh Chandra Srivastva.
IAC members to protest on Monday
New Delhi:India Against Corruption activists,led by Arvind Kejriwal,will protest outside Parliament Street Police Station on Monday. They said protesters were harassed during last weeks protest near PMs house. Five cases of rioting were registered against Kejriwal,Prashant Bhushan,Manish Sisodia,Kumar Vishwas,Gopal Rai and unidentified people for their protest against the coal block allocation issue on August 26.
Three Tibetans detained near Chinese embassy
New Delhi:Three Tibetans were detained for protesting outside the Chinese embassy on Sunday. They were protesting against Chinese Defence Minister General Liang Guanglies visit to India. The protest was organised by Students for Free Tibet (SFT). According to police,the incident took place in Chanakyapuri at 3.30 pm. They tried to climb the walls of Chinese embassy. A case of creating disturbance has been registered, a senior police officer said.
