NEW DELHI: A 55-year-old cancer patient allegedly committed suicide by setting himself ablaze in West Delhi on Tuesday afternoon. The man,identified as Ashok,was reportedly depressed over his failing health. The incident took place in the Nangloi area around 3 pm. Ashok,who lived with his wife Rajvanti,had been suffering from cancer for the last 10 years. On Tuesday,Rajvanti stepped out of his house,doused himself with kerosene and set himself ablaze, said a senior police officer. Police said he was rushed to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital,where he was declared brought dead.

Bikers rob Spanish tourist of valuables

NEW DELHI: A Spanish national was robbed of his belongings by two motorcycle-borne persons on Panchkuian Road while he was travelling by rickshaw on Monday night,police said. Bouchart Chantal,who hails from Barcelona,was going to Ramkrishna Ashram Marg when the incident occurred around 9.30 pm on Monday. Chantal claimed to have lost Rs 22,000,1,000 euros,his passport,jewellery,rubies,pearls,diamonds and a mobile phone, the officer added.

Fire breaks out in Tolstory Marg building

NEW DELHI: A minor fire broke out in the basement of Prakash Deep building in Tolstoy Marg on Tuesday evening. According to fire officials,nobody was injured in the incident. The operation was completed in about an hour, an official said.

Four charged for causing death of man

Gurgaon: The police have identified four persons who ran over a labourer,Vinod,at Rajiv Chowk area on Monday night,then dumped him in a deserted plot.

Police said that on the pretext of taking him to a hospital,they put him in their car and then dumped him in an empty spot. Vinod,a resident of Uttar Pradesh died on Tuesday.
