NEW DELHI: Three students suffered minor injuries when a speeding bus rammed into their school van in Vivek Vihar East Delhi. The police said the school van was on its way to Central School in Vigyan Vihar. The van had stopped at the traffic signal near Vivekananda College,when the private chartered bus rammed into it. The incident was reported at 6.40 am,the police said. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against the bus driver and he has been arrested.

Protest during MCD meet
New Delhi: The BJP members of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi protested the delegation of the civic body’s power to the state government during the MCD’s standing committee meeting on Wednesday. Calling the move politically motivated and an “attempt of the state to take over the Corporation from the backdoor,” the leaders forced the standing committee chairperson R K Singhal to adjourn the meeting within half-an-hour.

Metro train services delayed
New Delhi: Metro train services were delayed by over 20 minutes between Indraprastha and Yamuna Bank stations on Wednesday afternoon due to a technical failure. The delay led to crowding at the stations and trains on this route. Services were affected between 3.48 pm and 4.10 pm due to technical failure,a DMRC spokesperson said. Rajiv Chowk station was severely hit because of the delay. All other lines remained unaffected by the delay and train services were normal on other routes,he said.

Rod from Metro site falls on car
Noida: A Fiat Punto car was damaged on Wednesday after a two-and-half feet iron rod fell from the under-construction Metro station in Sector-15,Noida. The owner escaped unhurt as the rod did not fully pierce the car roof . Nitin Mehra,a resident of Delhi,was on his way to his automobile shop in Noida’s Sector-16 when the incident happened. “The Metro officials refused to listen to me earlier. They did not come to see the car initially but now they have promised to pay for the damages,” Mehra said.

Two found murdered
NEW DELHI: In a suspected drunken brawl,two men were found murdered in Mundka area,Outer Delhi on Wednesday at 9 am. The police said the deceased,Ram Bahadur (30) and Yadav Kartik (34),ran a tea stall with their friend Ramu on Friney Road in the area. On Wednesday morning,when customers came to the stall,they discovered the bodies of Bahadur and Kartik. “Both were hit on the head with an iron rod,” a senior police officer said. The police also recovered a liquor bottle and glasses. They suspect that Ramu murdered the duo after a drunken brawl. A murder case has been registered. Ramu is absconding.

Court notice for Central schools
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the state government and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) on a petition alleging that the central schools do not have specially-trained teachers to teach disabled children. Issuing a notice to the Directorate of Education,NCT Delhi,and the National Council for Teachers’ Education besides KVS,a Division Bench of Chief Justice A P Shah and Justice S Muralidhar sought their response by November 11. The Bench was hearing a petition filed by Social Jurists,an NGO,through counsel Ashok Agarwal.

Man found dead
NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old man who worked Delhi University’s chemistry department lab was found dead at his residence in North Campus on Wednesday. “The victim,Sehanshu,was suffering from dengue,” the police said. “We suspect that he had overdose of the medicine.” A case has been registered.
