CNG car catches fire,man burnt to death
A 50 year-old man was burnt to death on Thursday in West Punjabi Bagh area when his CNG fitted car caught fire in the afternoon. Inspections suggest that a gas leak caused the fire and the victim,Vipul Verma,could not come out of the car as the doors got jammed,said the fire and police officials. Verma,a resident of East Punjabi Bagh,ran a paint shop in the area.
Property dealer found dead in hotel jacuzzi
Faridabad: A 37-year-old property dealer was found dead in the jacuzzi of the gymnasium of Atrium Hotel on Surajkund Road on Thursday afternoon. Tek Chand Sharma,a resident of Sarai in Sector 37,was found unconsious by the hotel staff and was rushed to Batra Hospital,where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Doctors said timely medical help could have saved Sharmas life,even as his family alleged lack of assistance on part of the hotel staff. The hotel staff said Sharma possibly suffered a cardiac attack and drowned. A case of negligence has been registered against the hotel.
Caretaker found murdered in Vasant Kunj
A caretaker of a private plot was found murdered with his throat slit in Vasant Kunj area in South Delhi on Thursday. Police said they found a bottle of liquor at the crime scene,suggesting the assailant knew the deceased and had had liquor with him the night before. Jai Singh (50) was reportedly hired 15 days ago.
Yamuna plain: Govt for construction ban
A ban on construction activity,groundwater recharge and biodiversity enhancement in the Yamuna floodplains are a few suggestions made in a Delhi government report that will be submitted to the Centre soon. The report was approved on Thursday by the Technical Advisory Group of the Yamuna River Development Authority presided over by L-G Tejendra Khanna.
In-laws not liable if staying separately: HC
In a relief for a couple booked under the Domestic Violence Act by their daughter-in-law,the High Court on Thursday held a woman cannot get her in-laws booked unless they stayed with her. Once a son makes his separate home,the burden of his wife cannot be put on to the shoulders of his father, said Justice S N Dhingra.
3 injured at Games site
Three labourers were injured when an iron stand on which they were standing collapsed at Talkatora Stadium Thursday afternoon. The incident happened around 1.30 pm. The injured,Nadeem,Mastan and Danish,were rushed to RML Hospital.
