After being a major success in its previous editions,the fifth Escape Festival of Art and Music is back with a different line-up of indie musicians,painting and photography workshops and film screenings. To be held from May 18 to 20,the festival will take place at The Lake Resort in Naukuchiatal (as usual) and the organisers are expecting a crowd of no less than 1,500 music revelers on each day. About 20 indie artistes will be part of the festival this year, says L.Tochhawng,the founder of the festival,who is fondly called Mama.
Delhi-based rock band Menwhopause,which enthralled the audience with an extremely energetic performance last year,and French solo musician,Antoine,who charmed many with his looks and music,will perform again this year. Two of Mumbais best bands Scribe and Bhayanak Maut also promise jam-packed venues. Other bands such as Hari and Sukhmani,The Captains of Hook,Skinny Alley and Street Stories will make their presence felt as well. Apart from these,two international acts have been announced Puoskari from Finland and Auto Laser from Norway.
This year,there will be two stages of the event Soul Garden and Magic Forest instead of the usual three. Magic Forest will have some high-energy performances,primarily rock,metal and electronica. Soul Garden will mostly cater to genres such as Sufi,jazz and blues and then,there will be free jamming too, adds Tochhawng.
