Winning Glory

“I came across it online and sent in my entry,” says the 24-year-old mechanical engineer and a self-taught designer and animator. “We are freelancers who work from home under our production company called DrishtiCone or DC Animation,” he adds. “The contest was looking for a short promo video for India Book of Records and I uploaded an animation where I showcased the Book of Records as a live character,bringing to life all major wins it has in its pages,”he adds. Soon,he was at IIT Delhi for the award ceremony.

“But the real prize was working on The 4th Idiot. It’s an animation project being made by the India Book of Records,” says Yadav. “The fact that you can play around with the form and presentation,things which are otherwise humanly impossible,gets me charged,” he says.

A Sector 39 resident,Yadav has already won trophies including international “Stereoscopic 3D Wacky Video Game Character Contest” organised by MTBS and iz3d at CGarena. Last year,he won another international contest “You On You” organized by HP and Youtube.

“We are all self-taught artists with expertise in specific areas of work. We have already worked on various 3D animation and VFX/compositing projects for local and international market,” he says. Also in the pipeline is the plan to launch a website to help budding youngsters in the field of animation production. “There is no proper institute for it,how to start your own venture and production house. Through the website and its tutorials and self-help guides,we’ll be directing children how to go about it,” Yadav signs off.
