The final security policy prepared by the UT Administration with regard to grant of escort and pilot vehicles to key dignitaries was placed on record in the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday.

The final security policy prepared by the UT Administration with regard to grant of escort and pilot vehicles to key dignitaries was placed on record in the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday.

The Division Bench took it on record, even as the Haryana Government sought 10 weeks’ time to submit its final security policy.

Citing the forthcoming elections as a reason for grant of security to various individuals,Haryana sought time to submit the same.

Allowing the application, the High Court granted Haryana 11 weeks’ time. The case has been adjourned till November.

It was first reported by Newsline that the UT Administration has prepared a final security policy, according to which only the UT Administrator and the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court will be given escort and pilot vehicles.

The directions were passed after a former SGPC (Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee) member moved the High Court, alleging that his security has been illegally withdrawn by the Punjab government.

Extending the scope of the petition, the bench had issued notices to the Punjab government demanding the list of security personnel deployed with VIPs.
