Traffic woes in West Delhi? Govt plans flyover at Janakpuri’s busy Pankha Road crossing
The Janakpuri Pankha Road crossing is one of the busiest stretches and is a key route for people living in Janakpuri and surrounding areas. It is also a key road connecting West Delhi to New Delhi and Delhi Cantonment via Cariappa Marg.
The PWD, meanwhile, is also planning to repair the Seelampur flyover in East Delhi at a cost of Rs 17 crore. Completed in 2000, the current condition of the flyover is poor, with cracks and weakened expansion joints slowing traffic, officials said. To address a long-pending issue in West Delhi, the Public Works Department (PWD) is planning to decongest the Janakpuri’s Pankha Road crossing by building a flyover from DESU Colony to Janakpuri D-Block, officials said.

Officials said that a proposal has been prepared to appoint consultants to study the stretch, traffic congestion, and the number of vehicles using the road. The department has also approved a financial sanction of Rs 2 crore for the consultancy. Officials, meanwhile, said that the consultants will also study the routes and submit a report on whether a flyover or an underpass should be developed to address the congestion on the stretch.
