Two quacks arrested from Sector 56

In a joint raid conducted by the UT Health department and Chandigarh Police,two quacks were arrested from their clinics in Sector 56 on Wednesday.

In a joint raid conducted by the UT Health department and Chandigarh Police,two quacks were arrested from their clinics in Sector 56 on Wednesday.

The degrees and licences of the accused,Jyoti Parkash Mandal,who ran New Bengali Clinic and Kamlesh Kumar,who posed as a medical practitioner in Kumar Clinic,were found to be fake.

The raiding team was headed by Nodal Officer Dr Balbir Singh and sleuths from the Sector-39 police station.

According to the police,the duo has been booked under Section 420 of the IPC,Section 17 of Indian Medicine Central Council Act 1970 and Section 15 of the Medical Council of India Act.

“While Parkash was found to be in possession of a bogus degree,Kumar failed to produce a genuine licence,” said Sub-Inspector Ajay Kumar,who was accompanying the raiding team. He added that the degrees shown by the duo have no significance in any system of medicine.

The duo used to target residents of Colony Number 5,Hallo Majra,Badheri,Palsora,Manimajra,Maloya,Ram Darbar and Kajheri,the police said. Raids are on to nab more such quacks operating in the city.
