Two held for snatching

A team of the crime branch of Chandigarh Police nabbed two persons who have allegedly committed various snatchings in the city under the influence of intoxicants. The accused were identified as Parminder Singh alias Jassi alias Pampa,resident of Panthpur,Mohali,and Sumit Sharma,a resident of Sector 38. Police officials said the two had confessed to the crime and were regular consumers of cough syrups,phensydil and charas. A case under Sections 406 and 411 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the two in the Sector-19 police station on November 24,2009. “During interrogation,the two confessed to committing snatchings by breach of trust. They would take somebody’s mobile phone to make a call and run away,” said Charanjit Singh of Crime Branch. The police have recovered 12 mobiles from the accused.
