The Vigilance Bureau on Saturday arrested an officer of the Primary Agriculture Development Bank (PADB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for processing a loan case.

Bank officer held for taking bribe

Chandigarh:The Vigilance Bureau on Saturday arrested an officer of the Primary Agriculture Development Bank (PADB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for processing a loan case. Amrik Singh,posted as an accountant-cum-field officer in PADB at Sangrur,was arrested while taking bribe from Dhindsa village resident Bhawishan Singh,Punjab Chief Director-cum-DGP (Vigilance Bureau) Suresh Arora said in a statement. The complainant said Singh had demanded a bribe for getting his loan case of Rs 2 lakh processed and assured issuance of cheque.

HIPA first to have wi-fi campus

Shimla:Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration (HIPA) became the first institution of the state to have Wi-Fi internet connectivity on Saturday. Dinesh Malhotra,Director (HIPA),said the facility would ensure efficiency of students and benefit IAS/HAS officers.
