The big bash-up!

That’s what happens to you and your SUV the minute it’s off the road! More on the maverick sport called offroading

This one comes with all the cautions and warnings in the rule book. Offroading, folks,is by all means an extreme sport. Personally,if we have to into the psychology of this mad man’s invention,it’s cathartic at many levels, especially for those who have trouble with anger management. Technically,it’ll take three more offroad recces to get the four-wheel drive concept in place – high, low, mid, differential lock – getting the 4×4 into action takes a while for it’s a completely different ball game if you’re dune bashing or greenlaning or mud bogging or rock crawling. It’s a play of gear, brake and control. Like someone said, feel the vehicle. It’s a been a week now,but the Mitsubishi Pajero rally still has a parts of our ‘Heart in Mouth.’ The event,FYI,was organized to showcase the extreme off-road capabilities of this legendary vehicle. But what the folks who drove in in their brand new majestic SUVs didn’t know was the event would turn out to be the biggest car bash-up! No offense, but if you’re really not bothered about the after-rally damage,if you’re passionately adventurous and a high-risk taker, then offroading is your sport. But if you’re into it packed with a family in the back, thinking it’s going to be a fun-filled drive, then better not put it into gear. And,one more thing – if you have co-drivers/passengers who feel women make bad drivers, then change your vehicle asap.

Now,back to the event which kicked off from Kalagram and offroaded through the Jayanti Majri route, dry riverbeds and reverted via the Baddi road. With a hail storm following us,veteran offroaders geared up for a dream run. About 40 vehicles made their journey, braving the mud and slush, crawled through rocks, cut through bushes, slipped across the wet sand, and splashed their way across the river bed. Let’s just say,it was a run from dust to glory, and we look forward to more.

The event was executed with the guidance of Hari Singh, five times National Rally Champion and his team.
