AMIDST the applause and congratulatory notes, theatre fests at Mohali and Panchkula took off on a great start yesterday evening. While the Mohali theatre fest organized by Bhai Manna Singh Nat Ashram, staged two plays, Sabzbagh and Refund at AIKSPS,Phase 11,Panchkula’s Summer Fest attracted huge crowds at Indradhanush Auditorium for its opening act,Chehray.

The plays at Mohali, featuring artistes from different corners of Punjab came out to be a resounding hit. ‘Sabzbagh’,written by Jitender Brar and directed by Narinder Sangi, revealed the difference between animals and human beings. By drawing a comparison between disciplined animals,ill-disciplined ones and corrupt humans,it showed how a man changes into an animal due to his wrong deeds. Written by American director,Fritz Karnithy,’Refund’ depicted how an unemployed person, frustrated over his failure in life, blames the present education system and demands a fee refund.

Meanwhile,at Panchkula,’Chehray’,written by Dr. Shankar Shesh and directed by Sudesh Sharma, kept the audience glued to their seat. The play was an expose on those who wear masks of morality while compromising with principles.
