Waking up on a Sunday morning is never an early affair. It takes a good reason to pull oneself out of bed and head some place out, that too for a meal. For us that reason came last week with the newly launched Sunday brunch at Black Lotus, the Oriental fine-diner at Taj Chandigarh. Surprisingly, when it comes to Sunday brunches, there are limited choices in the city and an Oriental one sure got us excited.
While Black Lotus has been a popular fine-diner,it has never had mass appeal. Looking at the menu on offer, which also includes Peking Duck (the highlight of the brunch),it seems like a good spread. Rolling out at noon, the brunch packs in a variety of salads from the regular kimchi to the likes of a Broccoli stem Szechwan flower salad. Also,do try Chicken and spring onion dimsums, which are served on the table. It was a pleasant change to see the Chinese bao in the menu. Though the restaurant runs a cyclic menu, the duck remains the highlight, along with the complimentary champagne.
Date pancake and darsaan are the front-runners on the dessert table. Though some dishes see an overlapping of flavours, the variety makes up for it.
Meal for two: Rs 2,500
Location: Taj Chandigarh,Sector 17,Chandigarh
