Chandigarh Ranking TT from Oct 8: The Chandigarh Table Tennis Association is organising the NPS ChandigarhState Ranking Table Tennis Tournament at the Sector 23 Table Tennis Hall from October 8 to 10,according to NPS Principal R D Singh.Entries close with association secretary Harish Kumar on October 7 at Sector 23 TT hall before 7 p.m. Competitions will be conducted for cadet boys and girls under-12 (born on or after January 1,1999),sub-junior boys and girls under 14 (cut off date 1-1-97),junior boys and girls under-17 (cut off date1-1-1994,youth boys and girls (cut off date 1-1-1991),men and women.

1800 players for Punjab Women Games: More than 1800 players from all over the state will stake their claims for the top honours in the Punjab State Women Games being organised by the Punjab Sports Department at the Polo Ground in Patiala from October 19 to 22.Giving this information here today,Punjab Sports Director,Padam Shree Pargat Singh,said that competitions would be conducted in athletics,basketball,badminton,gymnastics,hockey,handball,kho-kho,table tennis,lawn tennis,swimming,volleyball and kabaddi. A sum of Rs five lakh would be disbursed among the medal winners. Gold medalists will get Rs 2000,silver medalist Rs 1200 and bronze medalist Rs 800.The Punjab Sports Department is regularly organising these competitions which were introduced in 1975 on the International Women’s Day. Olympian Pargat Singh said that the selected players would attend coaching camp to prepare the state teams for participation in the Sports Authority of India organised National competitions in four groups. Meanwhile,all arrangements have been completed to smoothly organise the games.
Chandigarh Water Sports Festival from Oct 23: The Sports Department,Chandigarh Administration,will organise 1st Chandigarh Water Sports Festival at Sukhna Lake from October 21 to 23. Competitive and demonstration water sports events will take place during the two-day event. In the competitive events, Rowing,Kayaking and Canoeing Sailing and Wailers events will be organised amongst outstation and local teams. In the demonstration sports,Cadet Class Sailing,Water Skiing and Wailers will be organised. In order to generate public response,Paddle Boat,(2) Two Seater (Double/Mixed) along with 1000 meters race will also be organised. Interested people can submit their entries with Lake Sports Complex general manager before October 10.
NZ CBSE tennis from October 8: The Banyan Tree School,Sector 48,will organise the North Zone Central Board of Secondary School Tennis Tournament from October 8 to 10 at the school premises and Sector 42 Sports Complex. According to Ravinder Talwar,Director,BTS,the competitions would be conducted in the boys and girls Under-14 and Under-19 categories,respectively. More than 20 schools from Punjab,Haryana,Himachal Pradesh,Delhi,Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh would compete in the tournament.Last year DAV Model School,Sector 15,and Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School,Sector 26,both of Chandigarh,had won the boys’ u-19 boys and girls titles,respectively. Hansraj Model School,Road No. 73,Punjabi Bagh,New Delhi,and Carmel Convent School,Sector 9,Chandigarh,were winners in the boys’ and girls’ u-14 categories.
Tennis tourney from Oct 16:The Faridabad District Tennis Association will organise the Haryana State Ranking Tournament at the Dayanand Public School,Sector 17 in Faridabad from October 16 to 18. Competitions will be conducted for boys,girls singles and doubles,men,women singles and doubles and mixed doubles. Fencing trials today: Chandigarh Fencing Association will hold trials on October 6 at 10 am at Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 19,for the selection of the Chandigarh Junior Fencing teams for boys and girls for their partcipation in the 18th National Junior Fencing Championship to be held from October 28 to 31.
T-20 cricket tourney from Oct 8
Chandigarh: Shri Shri Academy will organise All India Dr DD Sharma Memorial T-20 cricket tournament from October 8 to 6 at Tau Devi Lal Stadium,Sector 3,Panchkula and Sector 16 Stadium in Chandigarh.
