Fast bowler Brett Lee on cricket, music and fashion

Ever since he stepped foot in India,Australian fast bowler Brett Lee has been swayed by the country. “By the people, the culture, the places, and yes,by Asha Bhonsle,” quips Lee,in the city for Kings XI’s March 13 match. Bhonsle still has a very special place in Lee’s heart and he looks forward to singing more songs with her. “Music is like cricket, you never know whether the gig will turn out good or bad. It is a challenge, just like the game, and that’s what pulls,” he says.

Had he not become a cricketer,Lee would have become a rockstar. “As soon as I go back home,I’ll be putting the band together and get in more gigs,” says Lee. The concerts are for charity, something his band,Six and Out,comprising brother Shane Lee,Brad Mcnamara,Gavin Robertson and Richard Chee Quee has always been into. Lee is on the six string, the bass and the acoustic guitar. There is also a love for the piano, something which he picked from his mother.

Already out with five albums,Lee is also concentrating on his fashion label,BL. “ I’m working heavily on music and fashion, and for me,if you take care of your clothes, your clothes will take care of you.” Last seen in the Hindi film Victory,Lee is contemplating more projects, thanks to Preity Zinta. “She has told me loads about films, and of course, the Big B,Amitabh Bachchan,” says Lee.

Now that he is more or less comfortable with Hindi,he has started regarding India as his second home. “I love India, and even more, the people of Punjab who pack the stadium and cheer for us,” he signs off.
