Most of the countrys hard-hitting cinema comes from documentary filmmakers. These films explore difficult subjects,showcase reality and act as vehicles of information,even as catalysts of change. On October 22 and 23,The British Library,Chandigarh,is bringing the very format to life through a workshop with Mumbai-based filmmaker and cinematographer,Avijit Mukul Kishore. An alumni of Film and Television Institute of India,Pune,and Hindu College,University of Delhi,Kishore works in various genres of image-making and is actively involved in art,cinema and cultural pedagogy. During the two-day workshop,Kishore will talk about the different genres,possibilities and uses of the non-fiction medium in documentary making. He will also establish different forms of documentary state propaganda films,nation-building animation films,activist films,personal films and mixed-genre film. Aiming at interactive sessions,the films and excerpts have been chosen to engage and draw in viewers. The excerpts screened will be from both Indian and international films.
