Ambala Deputy Commissioner SP Sarao did a joint inspection with his Patiala counterpart,Dr Jaswant Singh,of the seasonal rivulet Pachisdhara on Tuesday. The breaches were 125 and 80 feet wide and water fell into the SYL Canal, which had started flowing above the danger mark on July 6 and 7. Today’s inspection was undertaken on the initiative taken by the Ambala DC to plug the breaches and to mke a plan to prevent such incidents in the future. Sarao said the filling up of breaches has been taken on the war footing by the Patiala district administration and was likely to be completed within a day or two. Patiala ADC Dr Jaswant Singh informed that 809 villages of the district have been affected by floods. He said water from Pachisdhara fell in Ghaggar as its natural course but the water it carried overflowed into Haryana and flooded the SYL Canal.
