Two women political heavyweights on Wednesday filed their nomination papers from two different constituencies of Hisar district for Assembly elections slated to be held on October 13.
Savitri Jindal, one of the richest women in the country and proprietor of the Jindal Group of Industries, filed her papers from Hisar as a Congress candidate while Jasma Devi, the wife of former Haryana chief minister Bhajan Lal,submitted her papers as a Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) candidate from Nalwa Assembly constituency.
Following the death of her husband O P Jindal in an air crash in 2005,Savitri won the by-election from Hisar. Jasma would fight elections from Adampur, the pocket borough of Bhajan Lal.
While Savitri said she would fulfil the dream of her husband to make Hisar number one district by ensuring its all-round development,Jasma said she would go to the people asking for votes on the development works undertaken during her husbands rule in the state.
Kurukshetra MP Naveen Jindal accompanied his mother Savitri while Jasma was accompanied by her husband Bhajan Lal and son Kuldeep Bishnoi. Kuldeeps wife Renu filed her papers as a covering candidate for her mother-in-law.
