The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has challenged the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government to take action against the Sukhvilas resort if it possesses any concrete evidence of wrongdoing. The SAD accused the government of creating a diversion from its numerous failures on all fronts by raising a non-issue.
SAD spokesman Maheshinder Singh Grewal dismissed the claims made by Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal as a series of falsehoods. Grewal stated, “The minister’s allegations hold no truth whatsoever. The project has not violated any laws of the land, and there are no illegalities associated with its construction.”
Grewal further asserted that the AAP government was desperate to divert attention from its abysmal failures on all fronts, as well as the immoral actions of its ministers and legislators, including Cabinet Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak and the family of legislator Jagdeep Kamboj. “The AAP government has also demonstrated a complete breakdown of law and order and allowed goonda raj to prevail, leaving the people disillusioned. Instead of addressing these issues, the government is engaging in witch hunts and pursuing vendetta against its opponents.”
Providing additional information, the SAD leader clarified, “It is a well-known fact that the land on which Sukhvilas stands is a former property of late Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. It falls under the purview of British-era laws as it is adjacent to a forest. Section 4 of the Punjab Land Preservation Act permits land usage if an equal area is designated for the creation of a green belt. This requirement was fulfilled, and permission was obtained from the forest department. Furthermore, Sukhvilas is located on land that was leveled and was part of Parkash Singh Badal’s erstwhile farm.”
