The valedictory function of Project V-Care was organised by NGO Yuvsatta in collaboration with the peace club of KB DAV Senior Secondary Public School on Friday which saw the participation of over 2,000 students. Principal Secretary,Punjab,B C Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion.
The special attraction of the event,however,was a demo basketball match by the Army Mens internationally-recognised Wheelchair Basketball Team of the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre (PRC),Mohali. PRC is working for the rehabilitation of soldiers with spinal or other injuries resulting in a state of paraplegia.
Speaking on the occasion,Gupta said the initiative of the students,who had written around 1,500 postcards expressing their love,affection and solidarity with soldiers of the Indian Army,was touching. This simple and kind action will go a long way in inculcating a spirit of patriotism and love for the nation.
Heat plays spoilsport
While the event was in progress,students were made to sit in the scorching heat for over an hour. The school authorities failed to take notice of the students plight who tried to put a brave front.
