The election offices of various political parties in the district are buzzing with election-related activities ahead of the Assembly elections which is scheduled for October 15. As the party office of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) witnesses constant visits of supporters, the activities in the offices of BJP, Congress and HJC are still gaining momentum.
INLD, with its party office in Sector 5, was the first one to announce their contesting candidate, Kulbhushan Goyal, in early August. The early announcement not only gave the party a long time for campaigning, but also gave Goyal, a ‘political outsider’, to make his ground in the district.
“Initially, our supporters used to be on ground for campaigning, but now we have demarcated the work and asked only selected teams to re-visit the area as the party candidate focuses on public meetings,” said Manoj Aggrawal, district (urban) INLD president.
Meanwhile, BJP, Congress and Haryana Janhit Congress have recently opened their party offices in sectors 8 and 9.
“Most of our supporters are busy in campaigning during the day time, and it is mostly in the evening that they gather here,” said a BJP member at the party office in Sector 8.
The party office of HJC mostly had young supporters, and the discussions were interspersed with concern over the sudden change in command, and the need to strengthen campaigning.
The newly-opened office of the Congress in Sector 9 welcomed people with large-size hoardings of Congress candidate, D K Bansal. Several members of the Youth Congress were seen talking to residents and taking feedback on their issues.
