Days after Nuh Deputy Commissioner Prashant Panwar and Superintendent of Police Varun Singla were transferred, Deputy Superintendent of Police Jai Prakash was also moved out of the district.

According to the order issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) T V S N Prasad Monday evening, Jai Prakash has been posted at the police headquarters in Panchkula, and Mukesh Kumar, DSP (Siwani) in Haryana’s Bhiwani district, will take over in Nuh.

Jai Prakash is the third among senior officers from Nuh who have been transferred after the violence erupted in the district on July 31. Singla was on leave when communal clashes broke out in Nuh that day.

Six people, including two home guards and a cleric, had died in the clashes that erupted over an attempt to stop a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) procession. The violence spread to Nuh’s neighbouring districts forcing the state government to impose a curfew in Nuh and impose Section 144 CrPC in several other districts.

The curfew in Nuh was relaxed this morning from 8 am to 1 pm. Home department officials said that further relaxation in curfew will depend on how quickly the situation gets back to normal in Nuh.

So far, the Haryana Police have registered 142 First Information Reports (FIRs) about the violence in Nuh and neighbouring districts and arrested 305 accused. A maximum of 170 people have been arrested in the Nuh district out of the 305 arrested so far.

As many as 106 people, including 81 in Gurgaon, 14 in Rewari, and 11 in Palwal, were taken into preventive detention.
