A case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against the accused on the complaint of Rajesh Ram at Kharar (sadar) police station. (Representational) Kharar police on Friday arrested a migrant labourer for allegedly murdering his acquaintance who was staying with him in Harlalpur village. The motive of the murder was not clear yet, but the accused told the investigators that the victim was pressurising him to carry out thefts.
Police said Vijay Kumar, the accused, is from Bihar and had allegedly killed Ajay.
Both the accused and the victim were labourers and staying together at Global City in Harlalpur village, said the investigating officer (IO) Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Kewal Singh. He added that on the intervening night of June 28 and June 29, the victim and the accused had a quarrel on an issue following which he hit Ajay with a rod, leaving him dead.
“We have arrested the accused, the body was kept in the mortuary. The accused told us that the victim was forcing him to carry out thefts,” Kewal said.
