Talwar in his complaint to the deputy commissioner has written "efforts were being made by the land mafia to encroach on the piece of land where the government primary school was proposed." (Express photo) Former Congress MLA from Ludhiana East, Sanjay Talwar, has filed a written complaint with Ludhiana deputy commissioner alleging that land mafia was trying to encroach a piece of land measuring 1.50 acres in Puneet Nagar (ward number 15) which was allotted for the construction of a government school during previous Congress government.
Talwar, currently the president of Ludhiana Congress district committee (urban), also wrote that the foundation stone of the school which was installed during the previous Congress government has also been vandalized by the mafia. He has urged deputy commissioner to initiate a legal action against the alleged land mafia who are trying to encroach school’s land and to ensure that work to construct school building is started at the earliest.
Talwar in his complaint to the deputy commissioner has written “efforts were being made by the land mafia to encroach on the piece of land where the government primary school was proposed.”
“During previous Congress government, the land was transferred in the name of education department and foundation stone was also laid for the school which was to be built by Ludhiana Improvement Trust. As per the latest market rates, the land costs Rs 8-10 crore and now land mafia is trying to encroach this prime land. They have even vandalised the foundation stone of the school which was laid during our government. This is happening because the AAP government has failed to start the construction of the school and now some criminals are trying to the encroach the prime land which has already been transferred to education department,” said Talwar.
He added: “The ownership of this land was transferred to education department and LIT was supposed to construct government primary smart school for Rs 3 crore. But the current government has failed to start construction of the project till now,” said Talwar.
