Situated right in the heart of Chandigarh’s IT Park,Black Magic,the resto-bar and lounge has been quick to tap the corporate crowd in the neighbourhood. While the evenings have always been a jam-packed affair,to make the afternoons equally exciting the lounge introduced executive lunches a while back. Now the menu has been tweaked a bit to introduce more variety for the corporates. “We felt it was important to revise the menu and bring in changes,” mentions Black Magic’s Mannika Singh.

The menu is fairly lean and priced at Rs 189 and Rs 229 (excluding taxes) for vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Apart from the soup-main course-dessert (only vanilla ice-cream on offer) fare,diners also get to choose one more beverage,which includes a pint of beer or Bacardi or a cool mocktail. The good news is that if you’d rather not drink in the middle of a working day,the lounge will dish out a drink coupon that’s valid for the evening as well.

Among the starters,the soups bring in regulars like vegetarian Manchurian,vegetarian Hot & Sour,Cream of Chicken and Chicken Sweet Corn. We tried the latter but it’s too sweet for comfort. The main course packs in multiple choice of combination meals like Kadhai Murg or Mutton Rogan Josh,Shahi Paneer or Methi Paneer,all served with rice,mixed raita,papad,salad and roti. It’s quintessesential restaurant fare,so don’t go expecting low-cal bites.

Apart from the Indian curries,there’s some Chinese on offer too. We recommend the non-vegetarian choice of four — Chicken Noodle,Chicken Fried Rice,Egg Noodle or Egg Fried Rice served with a feisty garlic chicken gravy with a crunchy salad. While the flavours are Chinjabi for sure,the portion size is magnanimous. Add to that the peppy music and the additional drink,and it might well be worth the break.
