Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi’s annual art exhibition will showcase art works of 90 city artists!

It can’t get any bigger and more creative than this…Painting,drawing,sculpture,graphics,printmaking,multi-media,photography,art lovers have a chance to see and enjoy the works of 90 artists,as the Annual Art Exhibition 2009 of Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi,spread over five days opens at the Punjab Kala Bhawan galleries on October 7. As the Akademi is celebrating Dr MS Randhawa’s Birth Centenary Year,the exhibition is dedicated to him. There are three categories representing various disciplines of plastic and visual arts and there is competition,non-competition section,as well as invited artists. There will be 100 art works and the event can be called a representative of the art scene of the tricity of Chandigarh,Mohali and Panchkula. The one-person jury of eminent painter Paramjit Singh selected 43 art works in the student category and 25 art works from the professional category and recommended five awards for the student category and three in the professional category. A committee of two city-based artists Viren Tanwar and Malkit Singh invited artists from the city for the invitation section,and there are 34 artists in this section. The exhibition is open from October 8 to 11 from 11 am to 6 pm and the award-giving ceremony at the Punjab Arts Council,Sector 16 will be held on October 7 at 5.30 pm.
