This exhibition promotes the process of peace, for a future filled with hope

You have the power to transform not only yourself, but the world around you. So believe the followers of Bharat Soka Gakkai, the Indian affiliate of Soka Gakkai International,a non-governmental organization that aims to promote values of peace and respect for all people, through culture and education. “The initiative of the exhibition, which comes from Tokyo and travels around the world,is peace. The broad philosophy is that we,as ordinary people are responsible and have the power to create happiness all around us,’’ informs Gopal Sharma, who has been a member of Soka…for the last nine years. Titled,Building A Culture of Peace For the Children of the World, reigniting hope, peace refers to values and modes of behaviour that reject violence and prevent conflicts by tackling the root cause. Through 30 panels, nine themes, photographs and text, the exhibition promotes ideas to solve these problems through the only viable options, dialogue and negotiation. “We not only pray for ourselves, but the world and the proof of faith is that all our prayers are answered,’’ Gopal talks about how the city has close to 400 members, each dedicated to the cause.

Everything that is needed to build a culture of peace already exists in each of our hearts, they all believe. Bringing together ideas of people from around the world and organizations dedicated to find a path to peace, the exhibition hopes to leave the audience with the feeling that we can move the world from a culture of war to a culture of peace. The various panels cover aspects like barriers to peace, religion and peace, role of nations,self-mastery,nuclear threat,non-violence…For a secure future and world for our children,we,the people need to participate in the process.

The exhibition will be inaugurated at the Government Museum and Art Gallery on April 18 and is on till April 24.
