Two police personnel recorded their statements on the third day of in-camera proceedings of Kalka rape case today. The proceedings lasted for around an hour in the court of chief judicial magistrate Ritu Garg. The case is slated to be heard again on July 10.

The last two days saw the 18-year-old victim identify the three accused, who had allegedly kidnapped her from a crowded marketplace in January and allegedly raped her in a moving car. The youths, who were four in number, drove towards Dharampur and raped her in a secluded area. Their luck ran out when they were intercepted by a barricade set up by the Himachal Police. As they tried to flee from the spot, their Zen car collided with a truck parked by the roadside and met with an accident.

The girl,in her statement, given to the court on Wednesday, said that the accused had drugged her and then raped her. It was when she was taken to a hospital after the car met with an accident that she confided in one of the hospital employees about the incident. By that time, the district police too claimed to have received a call from a few witnesses and had informed Solan police. On the second day,the forest kanungo,Dharampur and the victim’s father had recorded their statement as supporting witness.
