MBBS seats: MCI team in IGMC for inspection
SHIMLA:
A three-member team of the Medical Council of India (MCI) reached the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) on Tuesday for inspection,before considering giving its nod to the state’s proposal of increasing the number of MBBS seats from 65 to 100. The MCI has also communicated the official notification pertaining to the increase of post-graduate seats in various courses to 23. With this,PG seats at the IGMC have gone up to 62.

3 held in Gurdaspur with 1.9 kg charas
AMRITSAR:
The Gurdaspur police arrested three persons in two separate cases and recovered 1.9 kilograms of ‘high quality’ charas, being smuggled from Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh,from their possession. Senior Superintendent of Police Lok Nath Angra said the accused were Fiaz Ahmed,a resident of Heeribala in Kupwara district,Kishori Lal alias Bittu from Kangra and Ratan Lal from Pathankot.

5 injured in accident
NAHAN:
Five persons sustained injuries when a Punjab Roadways bus rammed into a hill on Tuesday the on Nahan-Kala Amb road. The bus was going to Amritsar from Paonta Sahib. The injured include driver Gurjit Singh and conductor Mohinder Singh. The Nahan police have registered a case and shifted the injured to hospital,from were they were released after first aid.
