263 examined at medical camp
AMBALA:The All India Medicine Graduates Association,Haryana,organised the 14th medical-cum-diabetic camp at Paulast Clinic Jandli,Ambala City,on Monday in which 263 patients were examined. Needy patients were also provided medicines free of cost. A team of doctors including M L Ahuja,Ashwini Sharma,C S Bhardwaj and Shailender Bhardwaj claimed that the incidence of diabetics was increasing at the rate of 10 per cent every year.
2 girls get new lease of life,courtesy Fortis
MOHALI:Under its corporate social responsibility programme for the girl child,Chetna,Fortis Hospital has once again successfully given a new lease of life to two girls from the economically weaker sections of society. The hospital conducted free heart surgeries and looked after the post-operative care of a two-year-old Radhika and 4-year-old Kittu. Both the surgeries were conducted by hospital executive director Dr T S Mahant. Both the girls,who had holes in their heart,recuperated well post-surgery and are now back at their homes.
Career counselling programme held
MOHALI:A career counselling programme was organised at Swami Ram Tirtha Public High School in Phase IV here on Monday by the Lovely Professional University,Jalandhar. In the programme,the instructors highlighted the aims and objectives of the university and told the students how to explore their inner talent and recognise the inner strength they have within. They also introduced a programme,Disha for guidance. Students actively participated in the programme and gained knowledge regarding various fields they can opt for pursuing higher courses,a release said.
Chandigarh bags KV exhibition trophy
Ambala:The Chandigarh Region won the overall trophy in the three-day Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangthan National Social Science Exhibition-cum-National Integration Camp-2009 which concluded in Ambala Cantonment on Monday. Eighteen regions of the KVS from all over the country had congregated to take part in the contest,where Bhopal-Channai Region and Jabalpur-Jaipur Region were adjudged second and third winners respectively.
Two-day youth festival opens at Landran college
MOHALI:Deputy Commissioner Prabhjot Singh Mand inaugurated the two-day youth fest at Chandigarh Group of Colleges in Landran village near here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion,Mand exhorted the students to get quality education besides participating in sports,cultural and extra curricular activities for their overall development and growth. He expressed great concern over the widespread pollution and urged the young |generation to contribute their maximum efforts for protecting the environment from pollution. An English rock band,The Innovative was inaugurated on the occasion. Competitions in various cultural presentations like gidda,bhangra,western dance,poster making,collage making and paper presentation were held,the results of which would be announced on Tuesday. Groups chairman Satnam Sandhu welcomed the chief guest and presented the groups progress report.
Blood donation camp organised at Ambala railway station
AMBALA:A blood donation camp was organised by the Northern Railway Mens Union at the Ambala Cantonment railway station where over 100 people donated blood. The camp was inaugurated by Ambala DRM H K Jaggi. The district Red Cross Society team collected the blood.
Martyrdom Day of Bhai Mati Dass observed
AMBALA:The Martyrdom Day of Bhai Mati Dass,disciple of the ninth Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur,was observed at Rampur Sarsehri village in Ambala Cantonment on Monday. Dass was executed by Mughal rulers at Delhi when he refused to embrace Islam.
