Illegal cab services go unchecked

The Motor Vehicle Inspector UT,Dogra said,“All these vehicle drivers operating on this route have the contract permits and not the stage permits. Through these contract permit they are only liable to take trips to different places in the country and not carry the passengers from the stops,which is allowed if the vehicle is given the stage permit. We have been regularly challaning them and even impounding there vehicles,but to no avail. Around 80 per cent of them do not have complete papers which include valid driving licenses as well.”

Avinash a student in Sector 34 and a regular passenger of the illegal vehicles said,“Being a student I use these vehicles daily,mainly so that I can reach on time. The long route buses to Shimla and Solan do not allow us to sit in them. Before I used to have to wait for hours for the buses to come to Chandigarh. Now since the time I have started using this service I reach on time both for my classes as well as home.”
