Anmolpreet steadies Punjab
*Chandigarh: Sixth-wicketpartnership of 81 runs between Anmolpreet Singh (54 no) and Sagar Kumar (29),steadied Punjab against Delhi in the match played during U-16 cricket tournament for Vijay Merchant Trophy played at St.Stephens Ground,New Delhi. Batting first,Punjab got early blow when opener Karan Sharma was sent packing on individual score of 4. Second-wicket partnership between Manpreet Singh (46) and Prabbjot Singh (31) of 60 runs got Punjab back on track. After both the in-form batsmen were gone,Anmolpreet took the responsibility and smashed impressive 50 runs. He was involved in 81-run partnership for the sixth-wicket with Sagar (29). When stumps were drawn with the Punjab’s total reading 201 for 6 and Anmolpreet was unbeaten on 54. Gaurav fashions Stephens win
*Chandigarh: Led by Gaurav Singh’s splendid opening spell (4 for 19),St Stephen’s School,Sector 45,beat DAV Model School,Sector 15,by 74 runs in a match palyed during 2nd Vivek Trophy at Vivek High School,Sector 37,Chandigarh. Batting first,St Stephen’s scored 158 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Talvinderjit Singh (31) and Karan Aggarwal (22) were the main scorers for Stephen’s. In reply,DAV team was bundled out for 84 runs in 16.4 overs. Medium-pacer Gaurav Singh ran through the DAV batting top-order and scalped four wickets. In the second match,Banyan Tree School,Sector 48,recorded seven-wicket win over Satluj Public School,Panchkula.

Khalsa College wins tourney
*Patiala: Riding high on Jaspinder Jolly’s all round performance (45 runs and 2 for 25),Khalsa College Patiala,beat Punjabi University Campus Patiala,in the final of Punjabi University Inter-Zonal Cricket Championship,in the finals played today. Batting first,Khalsa College scored 208 runs losing 3 wickets in 25 overs. In reply, Punjabi University Campus were bundled out and could not achieve the set target.

Gymnastics meet from tomorrow
*Chandigarh: The 37 th Chandigarh state Gymnastics Championship (Sub-Junior,Junior and Senior) will be held at Sector 7 Gymnasium Hall,Chandigarh,from December 3 to 5. The championship will be conducted for the Sub-Junior,Junior and Senior boys and girls in Artistic,Aerobics,Rhythmic,Trampoline and Acrobatics sections. The team will then be selected for their participation in the Sub-Junior National to be held at Chennai from December 27 to 31,Junior National from January 27 to 31 at Bangalore and Senior National from February 23 to 27 at Jaipur. As many as 20 teams from Chandigarh schools,colleges and departments have confirmed their entries. The competition will start from 10 am on Friday.

Football team honoured
*Chandigarh: The Chandigarh team that won the Under-14 Subroto Cup was felicitated by the principa and staff members of the Government Model High School,Sector 36,Chandigarh. The students of the schools brought glory by winning the presitigious tournament after beating Mizoram in the final via penalty shoot-out. Harjinder Singh,coach of the Chandigarh team,was also felicitated during the function. The team won cash prize of Rs 1 lakh. Harjinder was declared the best coach of the tournament.
