Setting summers on to a colourful start is Coca-Cola with its ‘Open Happiness’ 2009 global campaign. The communication strategy for the campaign in Punjab leverages the passion of Punjabi cinema amongst the consumers of the state by featuring the ‘King of Punjabi music’,actor Gurdas Maan. “It feels great to be associated with Coca-Cola. It has always been associated with refreshment,happiness and moments of joy. All these are the qualities that I closely identify with. I look forward to a very exciting innings,” Mann is stated to say. Explaining the global initiative,Kashmira Chadha,Director,Marketing,Coca-Cola India,remarked,“Open Happiness is our latest global campaign for brand Coca-Cola. It brings forward the thought of enjoying a bottle of Coca-Cola while taking a pause from the daily routine to connect with others.” The ad features Mann as an NRI coming back home to find a slight hesitation in people towards Coca-Cola. Gurdas in his inimitable style wins everyone over and puts the trust back in him and the drink. Commenting on the creative thought,Ashish Chakravarty,Executive Creative Director,McCann Erickson,Delhi says,“Life is all about highs and lows. The small lows of our daily life are what Coca-Cola and Gurdas Maan make a difference to. A sip can make you smile.”
