The location is a deterrent for a Chandigarh resident but not for someone in Panchkula. We arrive on an afternoon and find the place deserted,understandable since this is a new property. Bubbles is designed on two levels and the interiors,with its illuminated ceiling,is futuristic in design. The close proximity to the poolside makes it a good venue for private dos,which,we are told,the bar is keen to host. Boasting of nearly 50 covers,the seating is lounge-like and the bar is housed like an island in the middle.

The bar menu reads like any other anywhere — a mix of international and Indian brands with the usual cocktail line-up. The virgin pina colada we order is spot on and refreshing. The food menu brings in a mix of finger food and executive chef Ajay Mathur has introduced a tapas menu as well that will be included as special every day.

We sample Spinach rolls with salsa dips that are light on the palate and unlike the common oily deep fried ones. The cucumber rolls with tzatziki dip are perfect for a hot summer day. “Given how health conscious everyone is these days,we wanted to infuse light and flavoursome recipes,” mentions the chef as the bartender pours out some colourful mixes.

Though there are plans to bring in a two-piece band,the music at Bubbles is so far restricted to instrumental numbers,and needs some zing. Also for the place to be bubbling with activity,a few special events needs to be thrown in.
