Green Warriors,a film made by city’s Dr Gaurav Chhabra on the conservation of the green patch in Sector 26 has been nominated at one of the most prestigious International Environment film festivals of Asia,CMS Vatavaran – 09 . This year,the focus of the festival is ‘Natural Heritage Conservation’. Of the 276 films,four films have made it in this category. The film has also been screened and appreciated at the Ahmedabad International Film festival-09. Apart from this,it has had over two dozen screenings in the city in various institutes and schools and formed the foundation of kickstarting a massive public campaign to save the natural heritage of Chandigarh,thus setting a perfect example of video activism and participatory communication. The film will be screened in Delhi in the last week of October. CMS Vatavaran was initiated in 2002 to enhance understanding,appreciation and shift in attitudes towards the natural world and its conservation through films and environment forums,and Strengthen collaboration between individuals,government departments,scientific institutions and universities on sustainability,environment,technology and policy making.
