If you’ve been looking to break free from the bling-encrusted designerwear that dominate most boutiques,Vedic Belle could provide an answer. The label, which was launched in Delhi almost a year ago,now arrives in Chandigarh. The cuts are clean, with no-fuss styling and an emphasis on colour and fabric, both in ethnic and Westenwear.

“When it comes to elaborate designerwear, there are enough options in the market. Vedic Belle offers garments that are not over-the-top,” says creative head Neeru Pahwa. Armed with an MBA in finance from Cardiff University, she teamed up with husband Anuwant Pahwa almost a year ago to roll out the label. “We held a small preview a few months back in Chandigarh and were encouraged by the response,” she says. Tucked away in Sector 10,the store, too,is minimalist in decor.

“In our designs, the silhouettes are contemporary but we like to bring in elements of

Indian fashion and art through motifs or embroidery,” says Neeru. Anuwant, the Works Director for the brand, adds that the emphasis is on fine fabrics. The tops and shirts for women, for instance, were in fine georgette with draping and ruffles as the highlights.

Though the Chandigarh store hasn’t got menswear on the shelves yet,the Pahwas are hoping to bring the collection in soon. The winter arrivals have smart evening dresses, including the LBD. A collection of jackets is also expected soon. The Indian collection includes velvet Anarkali suits and sarees in sheer fabrics, with intricate embroidery.

The Westernwear is priced at Rs 1,300 onward while a churidar-kurta will leave you poorer by Rs 12,000.
