Ram Partap Vermas drawings argue in favour of a simple approach to life
Ram Partap Vermas drawings follow a discernible curve as complicated depictions make way for simpler ones. Verma is influenced by humans and the life around him,and his solo exhibition, titled Invisible to Visible,is on at the Alliance Francaise Gallery.
Simple black lines, with a dash of bright colours, the images convey Vermas complete faith that life is simple and must be lived so. Drawings are the first step towards painting, says Ram,who has done as many as 500 drawings. The title refers to the fact that the artistic perception is invisible to a layman while the artists depictions are visible to the world.
Ram draws on the contemporary world around him work, material success, money and relationships and tries to see everything from a positive perspective, without any skepticism in his thoughts. We have become so uncertain about life, but I dont feel the need to depict it. Sorrow and stress are a part of life but there is always a way to deal with it, he says. The idea is to strike a balance and let things not go beyond control, which is the subject of my work, he signs off.
The exhibition is on at the Alliance Francaise till April 2.
