The Chandigarh Police registered a case against unidentified youths for allegedly opening fire after they were caught red-handed pasting posters of PU student organisation,SOPU,on Friday.
According to police,around 1.45 am on Friday,a security guard noticed unidentified youths in three-four cars coming to the Sector 8 market and trying to paste posters of the party on walls. When the guard,Parkash Singh,objected the miscreants opened fire in the air and fled away. A case of mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage has been registered at the Sector 3 police station.
In another incident,the Chandigarh Police on Friday arrested two hostellers for allegedly threatening a PU security guard.
According to the police,on Thursday,security guard Ghan Shyam Dutt,posted at Gate No. 2 of the university,stopped the accuseds car as part of the security check. On confrontation,an altercation took place between Dutt and the two youths,identified as Tarun Rathi and Kuldeep.
Dutt alleged the accused threatened and beat him,after which Dutt made a call to the police,who later arrested the two on Friday.
A case of voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty,criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty,criminal intimidation and acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention under the IPC have been registered against the accused at the Sector 11 police station.
Beefing up security at the campus,the police has installed two more CCTV cameras near the tents put up by the student organisations,while Gate No. 1 of the university has also been closed and will be opened for only for an one hour in the morning and evening.
