The commendable duality she lent to her soul-swapped characters in the television show Bhaskar Bharti is still alive in the minds of the Indian television audience. Niece of actor Govinda and cousin of comedian-actor Krushna Abhishek, 23-year-old Ragini Khanna made a lasting impression as the lovable Suhana on Sasural Genda Phool. Last year, she also showcased her skills on the dance floor with the reality dance show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa (JDJ). This season, she returns as the shows anchor along with actor-host Manish Paul. The much-awaited star-studded show will also see director Karan Johar as one of the judges.
This year is going to be rocking. We will be pulling 13 contestants out of their comfort zones and making them dance to salsa,bhangra,cha-cha-cha and lavani, says Khanna.
Its a first for her as an anchor and Khanna says there are going to be many firsts on the show as well. Stars will be dancing to a live band, paying tribute to 100 years of Indian cinema, and getting paired up for performances with the winners of the international hit show Dancing with the Stars, says Khanna. A special inclusion in this season is Madhuri Dixits Step of the Week where the dancing diva will groove to international dance forms including cha-cha-cha,salsa and samba.
As the host of JDJ,Khanna is making sure that she has the right vocabulary and wardrobe. She further adds,People will forgive a bad performance but they will never forgive a bad appearance. A self-confessed motormouth,Khanna says its in her genes to be talkative. My mother is a writer and I have always been reading and talking. So,in a way I am ready to host a show, she says.
For her look on JDJ,Khanna has stylists on board, who have given a miss to the usual anchor wardrobe that comprises saris and anarkali suits. Instead, you will see me in a grand albeit elegant look, complimenting the show of course, assures the anchor.
Khanna is also eyeing films and wants to showcase her versatility as an actor, which includes both comedy and drama. I want to create a new show,a new benchmark in television acting and I am looking to transform myself through a bigger challenge, she says.
